The Companion

A small program for Windows that links World of Warcraft to your account. It is what makes undercut and sale alerts possible.

Why it exists

An addon cannot reach the internet, and Blizzard's auction data does not say whose auctions are whose. The Companion bridges the two: it knows which auctions and sales are yours, so we can tell you when you are undercut.

What it reads

• The saved-data files of the Auction Sentinel addon.
• The saved-data files of Journalator, if you have it installed. It is optional: you do not need it.

What it sends

• Your own auctions and your sales.
• The names and realms of your characters.

It sends nothing else. What we do with it is on the privacy page.

What it never asks for

Your Blizzard password. The Companion never asks for it and never needs your Battle.net login. You link it to your account with a short code from the website.

What it does for you

• Finds your World of Warcraft installation.
• Installs the Auction Sentinel addon.
• Puts your watched items and your reposts in the addon, so you see them in game.
